The Becoming
Chef Teng left home and started his culinary journey in Taipei city at the age of 13 as a result of poverty-stricken family.
He believed that, with the skills learned at the restaurant, he at least would not starve to death if no considerable money earned.
Fortunately, he was able to work his way up from dishwasher to cook, and later on, promoted as the Executive Chef/Bar Manager
of a fine dining restaurant.
At age 29, he then went to Japan to study French Cuisines. Upon returning from Japan, he then moved to Kaohsiung city and
started to plan for a business of his own. However, French cuisines at the time were not widely accepted.
Thus, Chef Teng decided to travel to Hong Kong to study famous Chinese cooking - "Reduction-Stewing Method".
By applying his French background to the traditional Chinese cooking, he was able to open the first venue, Chef Teng, in Kaohsiung, in 1984.
His critically acclaimed creations included the French Beef Noodles Soup and Stewed Pork Knuckles.
Since then, the restaurant has been praised by the news medias across the globe, included the Top 66 Restaurants in Asia.
In spite of his successful career, Chef Teng continuously wants to introduce cuisines from various cultures that make the simple act of daily dining becoming the exotic adventures of the guests.

The Cuisine
Stewed Pork Shank: Select the best pork shanks and stew them for at least three hours. Only eight shanks are stewed each time.
The skin turns bright red and the taste is tender but not greasy. The natural aroma is so appealing even with no sauce added.
Stewed Pork Knuckles: Chef Teng uses the "Reduction-Stewing" method to remove the fats from the knuckles and allow the flavorful sauce
to be completely absorbed by the meat. The tendered knuckles provide a lasting delightful taste.
Beef Noodles: Instead of using Chinese herbal as soup base, Chef Teng's creation, beef noodles, uses the recipe of homemade French onion soup,
which provides rich taste yet not greasy. Pairing with juicy tender beef, beef noodles has the perfect combination that makes the mouth watering.
Savory Cuisines: Chef Teng, who often travels abroad for culinary inspirations, rolls out dishes in different seasons of the year.
Foodlovers can enjoy the delicacies that contain traces of various cultural backgrounds. Recommended dishes include Scrambled eggs with tomatoes,
